Shows page doesn't look so empty anymore...the show originally scheduled for March 23rd out in Aurora, IL has been rescheduled for April 29th. It's at the Illinois Math & Science Academy which I guess is a closed campus. For this show however, they are allowing us only 35 outside visitors. Meaning, if you don't reserve a spot in advance, you're not getting in. To reserve a spot, e-mail us at IMSA@pgsonline.net. Finalizations have all been made and the two other headlining bands are 15 Minutes Late and Swizzle Tree.
It is a weeknight show and costs $7; however, all money is going over to the Ronald McDonald Charity. And yeah, that's about it. So, c'mon out and see your new and improved, tonsil free JoE in action! See you then.
Do you remember in the movie Aladdin when the Genie comes out of the lamp for the first time and he's all excited to be out and starts singing and dancing? That's what this weekend felt like. So goooood to be back. Only difference is I was singing, "Postcard From Santa Fe" as opposed to "You ain't never had a friend like me". Granted I can sing both songs, but I'll stick to singing "Postcard..." for now.
Anyway, the weekend was really cool. Felt nice to get away for a while with the boys...just made me anticipate tour even more. Which, we're planning for this summer. Only thing now is...where do we want to go?!?! Send us an e-mail to Tour@pgsonline.net if you want us to stop in your city. Which, if you know of any other bands in your area we should play with or cool venues, let us know that too when you send us the e-mail.
Where was I...oh yeah, the shows. I'm still not up to par with my voice, but it's getting better and nobody this weekend seemed to complain. Of course, Friday night the PA wasn't working too well, so nobody really heard the vocals anyway! Saturday was much better though, thanks to those Rantoul kids for making it an awesome time...we love going down there.
Right now we're concentrating on getting back on track. Consistent practice and finally getting that CD out to you guys. We've gotten tons of requests from people asking about the CD and we just want to apologize...this is taking forever!
Now that I'm healthy also, we're going to finally get a move on with the video. The deadline to get your picture and information in will be Wednesday, April 7th. So if you were thinking about it and haven't done squat about it, check the splash page (http://www.pgsonline.net) to find out the details about what you need to do. To reassure some people, we have not made any final decisions yet, so you do still have a chance. OH, OH, OH, I almost forgot. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT send in the answers to the questions and instead of attaching a picture write, "You know what I look like". PGS will not be the ones making the final decisions so we NEED to see a picture.
Other than that, the new pins are in and as soon as we book some more shows we'd love to see you all out at them. Have a good rest of the week!
Greeting from Reggies pad in Bloomington! It is a wonderful 65 degrees outside and I love it! I paused my participation in a game of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Manhattan Project for Nintendo JUST so I could post some news for you! Isn't that lovely? Last nights show was a lot of fun, except for the fact that the PA wasn't being utilized properly! Our mics kept cutting out, but overall it was just plain fun to play outside. We would like to thank three great friends that came out to the show from Chicago! Thank you guys. Tonight we are playing a show in Rantoul, and I also believe that we haven't played here in a while, so this show might actually go really well. Well as much as I hate to part, I must. We are all getting ready to go thrift store shopping for a bit here in Bloomington. Enjoy the weather!
So this is it! This Friday will be the triumphant debut (or so we plan) of JoE Martin after his life threatening Tonsilitis surgery. I am still to hear a word uttered by the new and improved JoE, but word on the street says it's looking, or rather sounding good. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to give JoE their well wishes, and to those of you who wished Dixon a happy 23rd celebration of his day of birth! It was greatly appreciated by all of us here at PGS camp. Our Postcards From Santa Fe Demo is still a work in progress. There have been many delays in the process of this, but boy will it be worth the wait! It's going to be packed with two of our fan-favorite songs, and as an added bonus it will have Multimedia footage of the band and it's fans. So don't count PGS out! Make sure to STILL keep your eyes out for this one. We also have new buttons! Supposedly these buttons are looking very chic! Make sure you pick one up at the next PGS show. You don't wanna be the only kid in Schiller Park without one, do you? We have also been dedicating a lot of time to writing new material and I must say that I am stoked to have you guys hear this. It is still in the early stages, but what we have rocks! Well that is it from this side of the City Limits. Hope all you fuckers had a good weekend. Fight Globalization!
"...That one day little white boys and (a) little hispanic boy will finally finish a demo." Ok, so maybe that isn't how the quote really went, but if we were in the studio in 1963, something tells me Dr. King would have sequed in that direction. But, it's not our fault, right? I mean, JoE is without tonsils now. Excuse, excuses, i know.
The good thing is, however, JoE is recovering well. Slowly but surely our little tyke is pulling through the pain and soon he will be back on stage, pants clad against the bottom of his ass, swooning you all. Maybe, this time a little Luther Vandross-esque! On that note, JoE wanted to say a few things to you all in light of his recovery: "Hmmmm hmmmm mmm hmmm mm m hmmmm hmm hmmmh mhmmmm hmhhm mhmmmhmmm hm hmm mm m mhmhm."
*Sniff*, it brings a tear to my eye. Be strong, JoE. Be strong.
Have you heard the sample yet of 'Postcard From Santa Fe' ? No? What are you waiting for?? We want your opinions so hit up that message board and let us know. In other news, PGS is still looking for candidates for the 'Last Day of July' video. A deadline has not officially been set, but when one is, you don't wanna be stuck calling up your only friend with a scanner. The same friend whos internet connection rivals the pony express. So get in your e-mails! Speaking of videos, the 'Postcard From Santa Fe' video, is complete. Thanks to anyone that sent or gave us footage. Your contribution was very appreciated.
Finally, since we have all this down time....e-mail some of us! Especially Dixon. He loves e-mails. Long e-mails. (Expecially since it's his 23rd birthday tomorrow) Happy birthday brother!
That's probably the question you're asking right now, huh? 3 cancelled shows. Well, let me start by telling you a little story. Tuesday morning JoE had a doctor's appointment. JoE goes to the doctor. Doctor tells JoE his tonsils are really bad and should have come out over a year ago. Doctor tells JoE he needs to go in for surgery to get them removed immediately. Surgery scheduled for Wednesday, March 10, 2004. Things make a little more sense now? Basically, I've gotta get my tonsils out and they say I'll be out for at least 7 to 10 days. Unless I was Wolverine, then I'd be back up in a few hours! But would Wolverines tonsils grow back?!? Hmmm, I wonder.
Well, that's the reason for the cancelled shows. We're hoping to still make the shows on the 26th & 27th so we're holding off for now, but time will tell.
In other news, you may have noticed a nice little addition to the splash page. That's right, we're finally giving you a little preview of the new CD coming out. So, if you haven't already, go to http://pgsonline.net and check it out.
We're also still looking for people to be in the music video! So, tell your friends and spread the word. We've gotten in a number of apps already but we just want to make sure we've seen every possibility before we come to a conclusion.
You can rest assured I'll keep you updated about my surgery, after all, I'll be home for about 7 days straight. I'll be blogging like crazy!!! Take care kids, and definitely, definitely come out and see us this Saturday. This could possibly be the last time I sing if the doctor has shaky hands....yeah, I'm not looking forward to this surgery.
Sorry for the oober short notice, but we just found out ourselves. Here's the statement from the owner of the club...uhm...yeah, this sucks and we really apologize!
